I also mentioned design, I prefer to design my ebooks in Sigil or Calibre Editor because these tools provide real-time previewing of the changes I'm making in CSS. Without a clear picture of the HTML and CSS, or other internal files that make up an ePub document, one is kind of flying blind and trying things at random, compiling over and over. I would say a tool like Calibre is invaluable for "debugging" and designing ebooks, in the sense that it shows you exactly what Scrivener is producing at a technical level, and thus aids in helping to understand why something is working the way it is (or not working, as the case may be). It would depend on what you mean by that. So I think this may have been the fundamental problem for my eBook manual ToC too, but wont find out until my next book. Once I renamed the Scrivener styles to something unique then the Paperback compile for the ToC was visually correct (using "as-is" styling type in the compiler). The style names were clashing, and the compile was over-riding my styles set in Scrivener. The other problem I solved with the Paperback compile of ToC involved setting Styles in Scrivener but using bespoke naming, not names that might exist in the styles in the compile style editor. I also had this (and other problems with page numbers being wrong) with the manual ToC when it came time to compile it for Paperback, and one solution is and might also have been effecting my ebook compile. epub to remove the unwanted links from the html and then drag and drop the ToC page postion. I have tried this with the standard "ebook" and my own compile formats and nothing seems to work.ĮDIT: I tried exporting it to. all fine.īut when I compile it, doesnt matter what styling I use, there is no links in the ToC list, only the chapter titles, and the is clickable, but doesnt go anywhere. I do the usual process copy special and paste, and it works in a blank page with clickable links pasted in. I can use the automatic ToC HTML and it works fine, but I want to make my own ToC.
